the first of three days off; the kids are in california with the rumble doll and i have the house to myself, except for the menagerie, which now includes NINE- count 'em!- NINE sup's- sport utility puppies, the product of our border collie and the german shorthair pointer who nailed her. just think of it- they'll herd AND retrieve! in a moment of sweltering whimsy today, while driving across the barren desert to carson city, i decided to name them after members of the e street band; the big black one, of course, is clarence.
