the snow and ice is still here, along with a ghostly fog the paiute indians call pogonip. berries and patti and i drove 60 miles through pogonip yesterday, to carson city, for patti's first shopping marathon. she slept all day, even through hot buttered rum and a big pile of greenlip mussels at red's 395 grill. talk about your kodak moment; three generations braving the christmas crowds. it was magical.
